🌿 About Lucana

Lucana began with a journey. I came to Morgantown, West Virginia right after finishing high school in Japan, and this small town gently taught me American living. When I missed home, I visited my favorite Japanese restaurant (Yes, it's you, Yama Japanese Restaurant!) — a place that always made me feel welcomed and understood. That feeling inspired me to build a bridge between Japan and Morgantown, and eventually, between Japan and anyone in the U.S. who loves gentle daily goods.

Lucana is my way of sharing the cozy, caring spirit that both my hometown in Japan and Morgantown have in common. I want this shop to be a small station where you can experience Japan without traveling hours to a big city — a place where you can discover what’s trending, what’s cute, and what brings a little joy into your day.

Every product in Lucana is hand‑selected with three things in mind:

  1. Quality that brings happy writing moments

  2. Design that makes you smile

  3. A connection to Japan you can feel instantly

Keeping prices low as a small shop is challenging, so I choose items with intention — pieces that truly add warmth to your everyday life.

Lucana also creates handmade goods inspired by things that are easy to find in Japan but hard to get here. When customers needed something special, I often solved the dilemma by making it myself. Our handmade items come from that same spirit: I create what you personally need, and I want to make those items available to anyone who might need them too.

Packaging is one of the most important parts of Lucana. I want you to feel cared for the moment you receive your order — like you purchased your item at a cozy shopping counter where someone knows you and appreciates you. At our collaborating store, we offer special crafted gift wrapping designed to bring a moment of happiness right when you open your package.

The name Lucana comes from something very personal and precious to me — a blend of the people I love most and the life I’ve built here. Our logo was created by a Japanese freelance artist, and I fell in love with it instantly. It shows books and notebooks placed on a desk with a small lamp — a perfect reflection of my own desk, where I spent countless hours crafting, studying, and daydreaming.

Lucana is a small shop with a big heart. I hope it brings you joy, comfort, and a little piece of Japan — right here in Morgantown.
